IBM FileNet P8 5.6 Release
On Friday (28th June 2024) IBM released the latest version of IBM FileNet P8. A host of new features have been added, a few of which are listed below. A range of enhancements to supported platforms (database, operating system etc.) are included but there are too many to list here. Malware Upload Protection
IBM has introduced a new feature in the IBM FileNet P8 5.6 release that enables the integration of malware or antivirus scanners. This feature scans files during the upload process, providing a safeguard against the unintentional or intentional upload of potentially harmful files. This enhancement opens up intriguing possibilities for expanding this function using AI technology to analyze incoming documents and detect other kinds of ‘risky’ files, such as unsuitable images and copyrighted content. While there have always been some methods for processing incoming files, this new feature significantly expands the available functionality for managing them.
Microsoft Azure SQL Database Support
IBM has unveiled a new database platform option that simplifies the deployment of IBM FileNet P8 on the Azure cloud. This new feature is beneficial for customers looking to lessen their dependence on internal database support and decrease the expenses associated with cloud deployment. While a majority of FileNet systems operate on MSSQL, Oracle, or DB2, recent versions have begun to offer support for PostgreSQL, including Amazon Aurora and PostgreSQL.
Automation of Configuration Deployment
New scripts have been introduced that using With GraphQL API streamline the automated deployment of configuration changes across different environments. The configuration of property templates, choice lists, and class definitions can be scheduled or manually initiated. IBM FileNet P8 has long offered a GUI tool for transferring configurations between environments. However, the new capability to automate this process will simplify the management of more intricate environments.
Upgraded Front End (Navigator 3.1)
IBM has introduced new features to Navigator 3.1, along with enhancements that include better insights into system usage through Business Automation Insights.
