“We’re putting in a new RPA system and it’s going to be a game changer”.
How often do we hear that? And how often is it true? “A lot” and “Not very” are probably the answers you’re thinking. Robotic Process Automation is one of those rare technologies which can streamline a working practice when it’s applied to the right problem.
As an example, we’ve just finished a small implementation of Robotic Process Automation at an award-winning financial planning organisation. This is a company in a very competitive market, dealing with sophisticated individuals. They recognise that client communication is key to retention and growth. The company has a diverse range of investments. But this means that producing reports accurately and frequently is very time consuming. Errors must be avoided at all costs.
It’s a perfect application for Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technology. A relatively simple to understand process that needs to be done consistently and frequently. Five days of effort resulted in a very workable implementation of RPA which will pay itself back very quickly. As a result, customers will be able to access almost real-time reports of their investments. Of course, it will need attention, as the range of external data sources changes, but that’s a very small price to pay for the improvements.
At Open Connections we see RPA as a hugely valuable tool to have in our kitbag of solutions. It doesn’t solve every problem, but in the right circumstances we’ve found it to be one of the most exciting “quick wins” available. It brings huge benefits both in effort and just as importantly, consistency.
With quick wins like this, it’s no wonder the RPA market is booming.
